    I don't know the frame size of your source but presumably it's not mod4. I'm guessing it's mod2 which will fail without cropping, and with cropping 8 lines. You must leave a mod4 frame height after cropping. Also, you should always crop interlaced YV12 by mod4 at the top.

    Out of curiosity: Why not simply crop after instead of before the deinterlacing?
