Hi everyone,
I still don't know if there's any benefit by converting video from 8bit to 16 bit in Avs or Vapoursynth!
That's why I would like to ask what is the benefit by converting video bit from 8 to 16 in Avs or Vapoursynth?
can anyone give me a good reason?
and does avs+ supports native 12 & 16 bit depth color?
thanx.
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays! or rip iTunes movies!

Often we do a lot of filtering (read: mathematical calculations) on the input in AviSynth/VapourSynth. With 16 bits precision we introduce less rounding errors in the filtering chain. These rounding errors can result in visible artifacts (e.g. banding). So to avoid these it may be beneficial to do out filtering in precisions higher than 8 bit. This depends on the type/amount of filtering you plan on doing and also your output format.
It does.
