How to extract audio track of .avi file to include it in a .mkv file?

Hi all,

I´m newbie in this kind of things and don´t know where to post my question so, here we go...

I would like to extract the audio of a .avi file to be included in a .mkv file where the video has more quality... . I´m using a PC with Windows 10 by the way.

I´ve been playing with AVI-MUX extracting the audio track of the avi file in .mka extension and later I´ve included in the .mkv file using MKV Toolnix...

But when I´ve finish to multiplex it... the audio is phased out with the image. OK. That problem (I think) comes from the fact that audio is sincronized with the avi file at 30 FPS and the video of the .mkv file is at 23,9... FPS.

So my question is... how could solve this problem to include the audio that I want in the video of that .mkv?

OK... I´ve made some research in this forum and I´ve found this thread about that.

I would like to be more specific now:

I have two sources:
1. mkv file from a DVD source with the audio in my language (spanish)
2. mkv file from a Bluray source where I want to include it

I suposed that since the FPS are different... are different also the duration of both movies:

DVD:

Having this, I´ve read from the thread that I linked before that I have to demux the audio from the DVD source with Eac3to.

Convert the dvd audio from 25fps to 23,976 fps. You can use eac3to to convert the audio. Eac3to -slowdown (convert 25.000 and 24.000 content to 23.976 fps)

OK, I´ve installed Eac3to and the GUI to do that. This is the configuration entered:



After that, I multiplexed both files .mkv (HD version) and audio file in MKVToolnix in this way:



But, when I play the file I´m still having sync issues and I´m not able to synchornize it with the video using VLC (Tools -> Track Synchronization) and adjusting it.

I´m missing something?

Try to set it so that it shows: -25.000 -changeTo23.976

Either way it's not guaranteed the movies are the same cut (cinema version, director's cut, state censorship etc.).


Did you try to mux them together without the eac3to step? Maybe they don't need any audio conversion at all or only some constant delay. We cannot be sure from the MediaInfo.

@sneaker you are totally right...

I´ve started to watch both movies at the same time and I´ve found some fight scene at minute 8 in the HD version that I haven´t in the DVD version. After that, I´ve searched in Internet and I´ve found that exist an UNCUT version of this movie which is the source of the HD version.

My most honestly apologize for don´t check it out this before. Thanks a lot for your time and help... Appreciate it.
