  1. I've downloaded it and I am trying to convert srt to ssa file, but the issue is it does not show convert options which I need to convert file. I've downloaded multiple versions, but it still gives me the same result. It's like the window is partially chopped off. Can anyone tell me what problem is associated with it? Thanks.Image

This software was last developed in 2001. You can load a srt file into Subtitle Edit and save it as ssa or load it into Aegis etc etc... I tried it out and looks the same on my PC.

  3. Yes, there are several easy ways to do that conversion. I use SubResynch which comes included in the VobSub package.

  4. I converted SRT to SSA file, but when I opened it on Virtualdub Subtitler, none of the subtitles show up on video.

  5. What about when just playing the video with the subs? They have to be named the same, of course, something like Movie.avi and Movie.ssa. They don't even have to go together. That is, the subs don't have to go with that video. They only have to be named the same.

And what did you use to convert them? Maybe attach them here so someone can have a look.

  6. I named video and srt file exactly the same, so I have no problems with playing subtitles on video. I used SubResynch that you've recommended and successfully converted to SSA file which also plays on video. Anyway, does it support multiple languages?

  7. I only need and use English. However, after hitting the Edit button in SubResynch you can choose other languages.

So, the SSA subs are good but don't appear when loaded using the Subtitler filter in VDub? I hope you're checking the right of the two screens? The "After" screen?

Use Subtitle Edit or Aegisub to create proper ASS/SSA as suggested by netmask56.

  9. Thanks. Also, I'm trying to remove subtitles of video I've downloaded from Youtube by using subtitle remover, but it does not detect subtitles. Can you tell me what's wrong with it?

  10. Thanks? That's all you can say? You wrote that you used SubResynch from VobSub to convert from SRT to SSA when you obviously didn't, or didn't do it correctly. As sneaker pointed out, those are not SSA subs.

You can forget trying to remove hard coded subs. Even if successful you'll leave a big and very ugly blur. If trying to replace them with new subs, it'll be better to just cover them with a black box.

  11. I used Subtitle Edit to convert into SSA file. It does work on Virtualdub, but when I typed any other random language in the script, that didn't show up. It seems like it only accepts English.

Make up your mind. And what you showed is not from an SSA subtitle file. I'll quit this thread. Good luck.

The example you showed is not ASS or SSA, it's simply a SRT with colour tags <font> etc

This is what a genuine ASS or SSA file looks like

  14. I know this is an old thread, but I chose to import my subtitle file with AviSynth instead of VirtualDub. I use VS filter to import srt file, but the problem is that the subtitle doesn't show up when I import ssa file. Is there any problem with that?
    Quote Quote
  15. Insert "info()" right before "TextSub()". What is the format? TextSub() does not support YV24 (planar 4:4:4 YUV).
    Quote Quote
  16. If you're asking for video file format it's YV12
    Quote Quote
  17. Show your script and ASS file. Make screenshot of the picture that AviSynth shows (include "Info()").

. Here are images for both srt and ssa. As I said before srt does work fine, but ssa doesn't as you don't even see the subtitle. By the way I don't even know why should I add Info() as it pop up the logo that I don't want to see.

  19. Attach the .ass/.ssa and the .avs file completely, not just screenshots of tiny parts.

Did you create these using Subtitle Edit? Try opening the .ssa/.ass file in a text editor and adding a new (empty) line at the very end of the file.

  20. Yeah, it worked when I added a space at the end of each dialogue. Thanks for your help.
