    If you plan on doing a lot of graphics intensive stuff like CAD, video capture/editing and gaming...

    With just considering those two. Win98se is better for multimedia apps like video, games, "the fun stuff". Windows 2000 is a business operating system. It doesnt do games well. And its not the best candidate for video production. And a few capture cards outs there dont even support it.
    Win2000 best suited for, Professionals looking for stability, security, and generally a well grounded OS.
    Win98SE best suited for home users since its the most compatible and supports the most fun stuff.

    But when these two are put together you get Windows XP.
