i am using 64 bit blender 2.79 on ubuntu 18.10 64 bit. i can export to any codec except dnxhd. when i try it it gives a log ouput that reads:

whats the problem here?
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays!

Looks like you have the wrong framerate ("0/0"?), and possibly the wrong resolution (if you used anything but the 80/100Mbps setting). DNxHD only supports the NTSC & PAL standards, so 29.97i (aka 29.97 fps, 59.94 fields/sec) for NTSC, or 25i (aka 25fps/50fields) for PAL.

after setting blender to 1440 x 1080 fields bff and the bitrate to 110 000 fps 29.97 still no joy .

While internally the stored resolution for that setting is in truth 1440x1080, I’d bet that the codec expects its input to be standard 16:9, therefore 1920x1080.
Or is your clip supposed to be 4:3?
