    FWIW: the MinGW-w64 repository @ SourceForge froze itself at version 8.1.0

    Yes, there are the builds provided by http://msystem.waw.pl/x265/ — but I don't like their threads-win32 feature,
    so I guess I will keep using pthreads-w32 forever ^_^
