  5. Thanks. I found a PAL unit in Europe, so maybe it's a European product only.

  6. I have this product

its by UK manufacturer , ELECTROCRAFT, were based in Liss Hants

Its a Y/C Dub converter, that avoids composite path for head to head dubbing from VHS/S-VHS machines to Umatic and vice versa. Best possible copy, ignore thos that comment as they said nonsense. It gives improved luminance and enhancement without ringing edge effect, moiring is eliminated. I also have DUB hi band and Lo Band rare TBC's by Electrocraft too.

If digitising and archiving eg from VHS or Umatic to digital then these two items are an absolute must. I will be selling mine when done.

regards to those wanting answers and info

No, That is incorrect. These are used for uMatic only, Consumer S-VHS and Hi8 decks don't have DUB IN and OUT, they have full fledged S-Video socket after the chroma has been up converted to full frequency (MHz range), The difference is that DUB carries the chroma under signal (KHz range), and that's why it is used for head to head editing with minimum loss because there is no chroma up-conversion or down-conversion.
