I have at last been able to capture streaming video using chrome stream downloader. The file seems the right size *.mp4 but does not play with VLC, media player classic or virtudub It loads and "runs" but displays some random colours.
Chrome can play the source, so is there a program that can fix this, or even a virtualdub plugin

Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays! or rip iTunes movies!

Nope. Protected stream.
At best you can do a screen-capture.
