  1. Hi All,

So I've got a video I want to burn to a blu ray but it's in HEVC aka 265 format. I'm not sure if it's actually possible to burn this as it is to blu ray but my authoring software will not accept it so I need it as AVC. As I understand there is no way to achieve this without re-encoding.

I haven't done much in terms of HD converting before, what is considered the best program to do this to achieve maximum quality? I'm going to extract the audio track before conversion so it's just the video I need to convert. I've tried handbrake using the H264 1080p preset but it the resulting file size was tiny. I'm after as little quality loss as possible. Options I've considered are Adobe Media Encoder and ConvertXtoHD - any other options worth considering?

    Cheers

  2. HandBrake isn't really suited for the job (no ES or M2TS output).

If you are familiar with the command-line (or want to learn - it's not that difficult) I would recommend using ffmpeg + x264cli. There are websites with the commands required online:

What is your authoring software? Why do you want to create a BluRay and not e.g. mkv? Why not buy a player that can play HEVC?

  3. Thanks sneaker I will have a look at those links. The software is blu disc studio and I want it as a blu ray so I can have multi page menus. My player can play HEVC but I much prefer having menus. Cheers
