To everyone who reads this:
I am sorry that I bring this up again, because I know it is talked about frequently. I wasn't able to put all the information I read from the other threads into a single unified idea (or whatever you call it ).

I use TMPG and want to convert DVDRips (I can't say exactly what the quality but I thought this would be usefully so people have a general idea of the quality) to SVCDs. I use two 80min cds for burning.

(I am a newbie: sorry if something is needed for a clear answer but I didn't state, I will gladly try and provide and left out information in a reply)

As with everyone, I want to get the best quality except I don't want it on one CD :P. As I am a newbie I followed the VCDhelp.com guide for TMPG and used CBR. I have been reading and many people use 2-pass VBR (if I am not mistaken). Can someone explain, know a website, or know of a thread that I missed which talks about the different "rate control modes". Thanks. (please, if possibly make it technically newbish but thorough if possibly)

I have also been reading about the GOP structure which seems to either add quality and take up more time or lose quality and use less time. Again, this seems very technical (i don't really understand I,P,B frames). Again could someone explain (preferably so I can ask anything I don't understand) or if it is too hard know of a website?

Lastly I want to ask if I can change the audio bitrate. Most of the DVDrips have 224kb/s. I normally use VirtualDub change AVI audio to a wav. Is there anyway I can encode the wav to have a smaller bit rate??? (or is this something I think can work).

Again please understand I tried to look for these answers on the web, in other threads but found the information to be a little vague or unclear.

For everyone who reads this,
Thanks in advance
