You can begin by showing the Text printout of what MediaInfo says about your movie. It's found in View->Text.

Apologies I didn't realise you needed info regarding the above I just thought you was pointing out those things. I have now checked with mediainfo its only short movie clips anyway

How do you set bitrate to lower as I cant see where

In Vidcoder go to the Encoding Settings dialog. In the Quality section set Target Size or Avg Bitrate. Keep in mind that the smaller you make the file the lower the quality is going to be.

If you have playback restrictions, like you're making a DVD, the procedure will be very different.

Im a bit confused as I want this clip to show on youtube as its ok on my PC but on UT its on at 360. also the video says in snapshot above bit rate is 38.4 Mega Bits per second

but in this snapshot of Vidcoder its saying target size 20 MB Average Bitrate kbps 900 so Im lost now

ok i have now choosen Avg BitRate which says kbps how do i know what number to put there for my video to be 1080

There's nothing in post #10. You mean post #9? That is your source video, not the video your converted video.

So you uploaded that 1280x1024 video but only got a 360p video at youtube? Did you wait long enough? As I understand it, Youtube doesn't make all versions available at once. It can take quite a while (hours?) for higher res versions to show up.

Because it takes longer to create the higher resolution videos. And they're converting many thousands (?) of videos at the same time.

Where are you getting that idea? Just wait a few hours or days for the higher res videos show up at youtube.

Seems to me from your pic that you chose "auto" and it chose 360. It likely does that based on your available bandwidth, so if your DL bandwidth is reduced, 360 may be the only thing it thinks will be reliable.

Yes, that's a good point. You can use youtube-dl to see all the versions that are available.

And since it's 1280x1024 (a very odd resolution), he can wait till hell freezes over and he'll never get 1080p on YouTube. At most, he might get 720p.
