  1. I saw this in another thread, but no resolution was made. I also have this problem, but I will try to be as specific as I can.

Movie: Life As A House DVDRip, 2 discs
    Format: AVI

Error: I've done the tutorial many times on other movies. This is the first time I've come across this problem. Anyways, when it comes time to "Save WAV", I get the following error message:

"The requested audio compression is not compatible with the input format. Check that the sampling rate & channel count of the input match those of the requested format."

I've followed the tutorial to a tee, so I have no idea what is going on. So if anyone could please help me out on this, I'd be very grateful. And if there is any details I missed, let me know. Thank you.

  2. You know I was talking to someone earlier and they had a simalar problem. do you have all the new codec and do you have the newest version of virtualdub. I only ask this because a lot of people are saying the same thing as you all of a sudden vdubs not working. The other thing I would like to mention is divx5 this just came recently and now vdub problems- It's got me thinking? Co-incedence?(not sure if thats spelled right).
a diffrent person that I was talking to named MURPHY emailed me earlier and said he had problems with enemy at the gate, he resolved his audio problem by using www.goldwave.com. I briefly looked at it but can't remember if it's freeware or not. If this works make a post about it will you please. Let me know how you make out VCD4ME

  5. I have the solution for that Dark Prime. Go downloaded the Nimo Codec Pack (http://perso.wanadoo.fr/nimo/). I had the same problem. When you install it choose "Decode" option to install (you will understand when you get there) and make sure you disable to of the settings if you don't have the video card or bouncy video (just read every step).

Please tell me if it worked

  7. I hade the same problem with Ocean's eleven divx movie. What I did is extract the audio as .ac3 using Vdub (there is a guide here how to do it). Then you can use Besweet or Headac3he to convert it to .wav or .mp2. Good luck!

  9. Ok, this is an update to my problem. I've done many things since I first posted this, and the closest I got was the movie converted to SVCD, but the audio was way out of whack. Anyways, on all my other DIvX movies, it says the audio format is MPEG Layer 3(which, since i'm a total newb to this stuff, is what it is supposed to be). However, on my Life As A House DIVX's, it says the audio format is DVM. SO is there a way to successfully convert AVI to WAV if the AVI has this audio format? Thank you in advance.

  10. Hey DARK PRIME,

I rembered seeing a post about something similar to this you might want to check it out here is the link
    http://forum.vcdhelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=89707

also tmpgenc has a new version 2.54 and there are some bugs fixed that might be what you need. I don't think it's freeware.

    Hope this helps VCD4ME

  14. I am having the same problem from time to time.
What I have done is selecting the DIRECT STREAM COPY under the AUDIO tab.
I didn't get the error message anymore, but if this will give you the best quality of sound???...i dunno...
At least i got sound with my moviepictures.

    Whew !

Life As A House DVDRip, if its a DVD rip, they usually have AC3 audio, Nimo can provided a good codec for this. However there are 2 methods for extracting the audio, the first method may not work on everyone's machine. The second has already been posted above.

    Method 1 (Works for me)
    Vdub
    Audio > Full processing mode
    Audio > Conversion > 44.1Kh
    SAVE WAV

    Method 2
    Vdub
    Audio > Direct stream copy
    SAVE WAV

Rename WAV to AC3 if necessary before converting to 44.1Khz WAV

If none of these work, that's because you have things missing from your system. Nimo "usually" provided all the audio codec's you need.
