I got started on video editing 2 years ago when I bought a cheap copy of Vegas Movie Studio Basic 13 for $25.
I just got a new PC and lost the old installation
Maybe I should get a new version anyway?
What do you suggest for basic editing?
    Is there a cheap older version ? 13? 14? 15?

I haven't used Vegas Movie Studio Basic in quite a number of years, but it has been recommended here in the past.

Last December, Humble offered Vegas Pro 15 along with a number of other Magix software titles (including Vegas Movie Studio Basic) for $20 USD for the bundle. I haven't used my Vegas Movie Studio basic and I understand that I can transfer the license, so if you want it, it's yours for free. Just let me know.

It's a way to buy a legitimate copy of the software at a reduced price in case you are wrong about the ability to transfer the license from your copy to the new owner, and he'll get a hard copy on CD or DVD. Does your offer include providing him with something more than the license number?

I looked up Magix's licensing agreement before I made the offer but I see your point. I could send the OP a CD or DVD of the software I downloaded.
