Can a wireless keyboard interfere with a program?

I'm using a video program with a Rii Keyboard. Bought it specifically for the size. It might be causing a problem though.

I'm doing my editing, and then I go to render, I come back minutes later to find that the computer has rebooted. It doesn't happen all the time, just randomly.


The keyboard has a feature where it shuts itself off when it is not used for a few minutes. I'm wondering if that is interfering with the computer at all?

The obvious thing would be to temporarily use a regular keyboard, change nothing else, and see if the problem goes away.

It sound like your computer is overheating. Check CPU temps while rendering.

But I use a standard wireless kybd and the batteries last for ages (and I use the kybd quite a lot) - These are standard cell batteries since rechargeables do not last.

I do have several bluetooth keyboards that regularly shut down, but quickly awaken with a key press. No problems.
And I do have a Rii Mini Wireless 2.4GHz Keyboard that also works with no problems. It has a built-in rechargeable polymer Lithium-ion battery.

I would definitely try a different KB to test for KB issues. Maybe a stuck key problem.

And if you are using Windows, I would check the system 'Event Viewer' for errors that may tell you about shutdowns.
