  1. I'm using Virtualdub with AviSynth. When I render as 2K it works fine, but it gives me a compression error when I try to render as 4K. Is that because my computer is not powerful enough to support the resolution or is it the fact that VirtualDub does not support it?

  4. It seems like 4K requires really powerful CPU to be processed. 1440P takes about one hour to process 20 mins video. It can take 2 hours if sharpen and smooth filters are added.

    Yes. Also having plenty of RAM will help, probably at least 12GB, 16 better.
    It's 4 times as much data as 1080p, so no surprise with what you're seeing
