HI guys, thanks for reading my post. I have a problem.

I have finished my movie about a charity that works in supplying tools to Africa. and am happy with the menu system. however, my custom highlight over the buttons has extremely jagged edges. Here is an example:

Does anyone know what causes this and how to get the edges smoother? I would love some help!

    Dan.

Looks like you are using a NON-SQUARE highlight.

DVD subs & menu highlights use 4bit color, so unless you devote a couple of the bits to anti-aliasing, you will of course have aliasing/jaggies with non-rectangular areas.

    Maybe you should clarify.

Is that enlargement part of the custom menu and how did you create that ?

Choose an antialias color in your highlight color set that is halfway between the fill color and the background.

Thanks so much for reading my post and trying to help guys!

Cornucopia - so how do I devote those bits to anti-aliasing?

DB83 - Indeed, it is part of the custom menu that I have created. You can have custom highlights by making them as a png with a transparent background and then adding them as a mask to the highlight of the button. Be sure choose 'Custom' in the syle selection.

JVRaines - Here is the color set used for the page:

What should I change to get better results?

I have had limited success with this color set, but the problem is still there:

Thanks again, all of you guys!

  6. The best thing you can do is avoid using diagonals. Use only vertical and horizontal lines.
