  1. Hi Friends

I have AVIDEMUX but Im aware that the software is no longer developed or supported.
I also feel it is a bit slow in conversions

Which is the best opensource video editing tool I can use?

    Cheers

Avidemux is still very much alive. Version 2.5 for MPEG2 and other interlaced creation, 2.6 and 2.7+ for progressive. That is my understanding, though I may be corrected to some degree.
Do you want free software? Cheap? What is your goal or goals? You ask for "the best" but that will vary from person to person, and even from project to project.

    Yes, open source.
The mail goal is to rip from DVD and BD discs applying filters
And basic editing like cropping, cutting, changing aspect ratio etc..

Thanks about avidemux. I thought I read someone that the development of this software has stopped.

Nothing specific about opesource. I thought to evaluate opensource first. But open to paid ones too

are you looking for an editor or an encoder? avidemux is mostly just an encoder. editors are software like vegas or premiere pro. for easy re-encoding/re-sizing the free vidcoder is a nice option.
