  1. Hey everyone, I have a Pioneer DVD-ROM DVD-116. For some reason when i try to watch DVD videos with any DVD software, DVDwin etc. It plays fine for around 10 minutes. Then it starts to freeze up and jumps.
    (sound + Video Jumps)
I'm not sure if this is a codec problem. I have uninstalled all my codecs and it still happens.
    My computer system is.

    Celeron 533 Intel CPU
    DVD-ROM DVD-116
    MITSUMI CR-4802TE
    Gigabyte BX2000+ Motherboard
    512 meg SDram
    Abit Geforce2 T400
Storm Platnium Sound Card (Vortex 2 chipset)
3com Etherlink XL PCI TPO NIC (3C900B-TPO) Network Card
17.5 gig Seagate ATA 66 HD
TV Excel (Tv tuner with capture card and FM Radio)
    Microsoft Sidewinder Controller
    OS: Win2000 Pro
    DirectX 8.1 final installed

I think that's everything.. If anyone can help me.. Email me, Message me or just reply in this thread.. Thanks. :)

  2. This is not a codec problem, but here are something for testing for you to do:

1: Make sure drive is Master on Secondary IDE
2: Always use latest IDE drivers for your mainboard
3: Make sure you have UDMA and Data Sync Enabled

If you still having problems, let me know.

Hey, Windows2000 Pro doesn't seem to have DMA or Data Sync Selections in the DVD properties..
I looked for them before i even posted here..
So i deleted Win2000 and installed Win98 SE. Seems to be working fine now. I prefer win2000 because its far more stable then Win98. Seems i should get WinXP
I also have everything up to date in Drivers and BIOS and my DVD rom is on Master on the Secondary IDE. My burner is on Slave.
If win2000 does have somewhere where i could have enabled DMA and Data Sync, I would really like to know where it was for next time
    Thanx.

  5. Well, i'm glad to hear all is working, although I had no intention you'd delete your Windows2000 to do that, but that means the problem was software and not in hardware.

As far as I know, on Windows2000 it enabled DMA and Sync automaticly if it detects the drive to support it.
