  1. I have a TDK and Sony tape which at the beginning has a strange glitch. The camcorder also is making some strange noises when playing this part. I've recorded over this part a few times but the issue is still there. Is the tape damaged or the heads dirty?

Open the cassette door and examine the tape for physical damage.

looks to me like the tape is delaminating/sheddding the magnetic recording material.

It's damaged. The tape should be perfectly smooth, uniform, and mirror-like.
