After reading the posts here, I've tried a number of things that haven't worked and am throwing myself upon the mercy of the forum.

Here is my setup:

AMD 1.1GHrz CPU running Windows 2000 Pro with SP2
512Mb RAM
Diamond Fusion AGP video card
ATI TV Wonder PCI card

I'm trying to capture from a VCR to make VCD's. My plan has been to capture AVI's using VirtualDub, then use TMPGEnc to turn them into MPGs for burning. (I don't really need SVCDs at this point.)

My biggest problem is the ATI restriction on capture resolution (ie, nothing better than 320x240 which we all know looks like h*ll when you play it on a TV). I found some posts that talked about using the MMC7.5/7.6 version, and I found them through filemirrors.com but when I tried to install them (with the "fixes" as described) they still failed when the install program found I didn't have a specific video chip (the Radeon/Rage Pro or some other ATI). The software would complete the install, but when I went to run the TV program, nothing ever came up. I know I can use Stinky's reg tool but if I can't start the other program, it won't do me much good.

I also tried capping through VirtualDub (which I know is a much better program) using the vfw->wdm wrappers. I'm not sure I needed these for win2k, as I had already been able to capture in VirtualDub, but not at any resolution better than 320x240.

Soooooooooooo, what I REALLY need is some help here. The disk I'm building this on can be overwritten, so if I need to start from scratch (because of something I've already loaded), it's not a problem.

Thanks in advance for any help that's sent my way.

Mike
