I need to produce STL and SRT subtitles; some lines will have to be positioned at the top of the frame.
I understand formatting isn't possible for SRT, but what about STL ?
Can I set positioning in STL with Subtitle Edit 3.5.8 ?
If not, how else ?

You can open the stl with Subtitle Edit, select the lines you want and choose the required alignment. You have 9 positions available.
You can also do it in srt, using the tags {\anX}, like explained here. -

Perfect, many thanks.
It looks however that VLC ignores the alignment instructions set by Subtitle Edit and saved as EBU/STL...correct ?
And saved as SRT results in nothing better (alignment code displayed instead of aligning the text as desired)
What would be another suitable popular subtitling format to use with Windows (Film & TV app) or VLC ? -

Hi! I created stl file in SubtitleEdit-3.5.9 with Justification code centered text.

But on Teletext level (888 page) on TV, i see always left position.

Why it happens? Where can I apply the setting in SE?
