Is there an easy way to have Vdub start capturing at a certain time and then stop 1 hour later? I want to capture directly from the airwaves instead of to VHS then to my computer. I think this would be an easy way to increase the quality significantly. Thanks

  2. no, virtual dub does not have a timer built in - if you set it to start you can have it automatically stop after an hour though - this is set in stop conditions. This is only good if you are there to start it and then wanna leave, or if you remote access into your computer to start it, say from work or something.

avi_io has a timer and is similar to vdub (in the capture part), might work for what you need.

Unfortunately, I am wanting to start it at 4AM. I would just get up early if it was a single event, but I want to do it every morning for a while. I will look in to avi_io. Thanks.

  6. Hi,
the Programname is VD_start (or VirtualDub Capture starter)

You can download this prog from:
    http://www.geocities.com/sssoft2001/Downloads/EigeneProgramme/eigeneprogramme.html

There was just the new version 1.3 released!!!

Now this tool can also renname the captured files by buttonclick or automatically after capturing.

  8. I have used VD_Start, and can attest that it works as stated. You set up VirtualDub as you normally would to capture, then when you get to the final menu pick to start your capture, you fire up VD_Start and set the timer for your start time (and end time, if you desire to not use Stop Conditions in VirtualDub). It is great for capturing stuff in the middle of the night, or during the day when at work!

Thank you VERY much. I was getting ready to buy AVI_IO even though I liked Vdub better. AVI_IO seems to drop about 1/1000 frame and Vdub (all things the same) seems to drop about 1/3000 frames. The only reason I was going to get AVI_IO was the timed capture.
