  1. Guys what about a usbc to dvid at 2560x1600. USbc has power and data so i would imagine this would be ideal. I plan to upgrade to a dell 9570 soon that is full with usbc ports

The Dell XPS 15 9570 has a Thunderbolt™ 3 port with a USB C interface, and this Thunderbolt 3 port is able to supply native DisplayPort 1.2 video output. You would need a USB C Displayport to Displayport adapter plus a DisplayPort to Dual-link DVI-D adapter.

Example of a USB C Displayport to Displayport adapter:

Also, do not buy the Visiontek adapter from Dell in pandy's link below.

  3. Instead of going usbc to displayport and then displayport to dvid, why not go directly usbc dvid if there is such a cable

What you would actually need is an external graphics adapter with a USB 3.1 Gen 2 USB type C interface if you want to avoid using DisplayPort and use USB instead. I don't know if any exist with dual-link DVI-D support.

[Edit]Thunderbolt 3 would be another option, but I don't know if there is an external graphics adapter with a Thunderbolt 3 USB type C interface and dual-link DVI-D out.

[Edit 2] Your 10-year-old formerly cutting-edge expensive monitor has become a white elephant in 2018. white elephant = a possession entailing expense which is out of proportion to its usefulness.

I looked for an external graphics adapter with a USB 3.1 or USB 3.0 connection to the source PC and dual-link DVI-D out but had no luck. Every adapter that I found with DVI-D out had single-link DVI-D not dual-link DVI-D. I didn't find any Thunderbolt 3 to dual-link DVI-D adapters either.

However, the Dell XPS 15 9570's Thunderbolt 3 connection can supply 4 lanes of PCI Express Gen 3 and power. This allows the use of a eGFX enclosure, in which a desktop graphics card would be installed. eGFX is not inexpensive, and the graphics card is a separate purchase. The only "good news"for this solution is that since the graphics card can use only 4 lanes, it would make no sense to buy a high-end card.

A DisplayPort to dual-link DVI-D adapter capable of supplying 2560 x 1600 plus a USB-C DisplayPort to DisplayPort adapter would still be less expensive.

  6. Guys lets make one last attempt. My 9570 is here. I intend to get a usbc hub, so i can connect monitor and usb periphals in one swoop when i go to the office, instead of having to connect 4-5 cables one by one each morning.

So is there at least a usbc hub, that offers a dual dvid capable at this resolution? Since i will be getting such a hub, if there is i wont be considering this a single purpose expense, like getting this displayport active adapter is now

If not i give up, i'll resurrect an older desktop and upgrade some of each parts and use this monitor for 2k gaming

I don't think that you are going to find a USB C hub that offers a dual-link DVI-D output. I looked at several USB C multiport adapters with DVI-D and they all have single link DVI-D.

You answered my post by repeating post #2 from pandy without attribution. That kind of reply is usually generated by bots or posted by spammers. If you are neither of those things, therock003's 10-year-old monitor probably does not support input at 24Hz. The specs I found for that monitor don't list any vertical refresh rates other than 60Hz. Plus, monitors from 2008 or 2009 were often limited to vertical refresh rates between 50Hz and 75Hz, and possibly to just 60Hz.

Also, read posts 28 - 30 to find out the other reason why the option of using pandy's solution isn't always available using HDMI 1.4 as the source.
