    In addition to what Sharc said, some comment on my side:

    Love Danguard! Animation capture is not the best to judge for quality.

    There are "black frames" on both catures.

    The 2 captures are very similar, once tweaked for similar look:

    The canopus capture has a distortion to the left on the top of the frame at the end of the video.

    The canopus capture has some more "artifacts" on the red color parts, and in general more noise in the borders between areas of different colors:

    OMG hauppage LIVE 2 USB thing looks better than the BM 4K and ADVC100 ??
    I saw on forum that Lordmsurf is an expert of BAD hauppage USB stick... i have an WinTV-HVR-900 but i was thinking anythink was better than that...
    is the WinTV-HVR-900 a poor device? what was the best hauppage USB ?

    Hauppauge USB-Live 2 is a complete different device than the HVR Series. Yes, is a nice capture card and so recommended, provided you feed it with a Y/C signal time base corrected.

    But as you have seen, the Canopus ADVC (DV approach) is a valid alternative (with lower quality, easier usage and solid results).

    Never was -- and can never be.

    It's byproduct of 4:1:1 NTSC and the DV codecs used. (PAL 4:2:0 is less bad on color accuracy.)
