The video file I'm actually trying to make is of a dialogue, in an audio file.
My main logic is to go into an image editor, write out the conversation, then have the video editor repeat the corresponding image, for the desired duration; usually 5 seconds for each image.
May one please direct me to a tutorial with a free program, to allow such tasks. My main experience in video editing is Avi Demux.

You want a background for your dialogue? Yeah, that's super easy.
Get into a cheapo video software and make a "Ken Burns" style animation.
What I use is Vegas Pro. Vegas Pro has excellent audio tools.Last edited by budwzr; 18th Nov 2018 at 14:15.

I'm trying to make a video file from scratch. The video part will simply be a black image, with multiple lines of text on it; display what is said in the audio file.

Make a black video. Create an SRT subtitle file with the lyrics. Render the video with the subs.

Thanks for the responding.
I was thinking of duplicating the images with the dialogue for a set amount of time, usually 10 to 15 seconds.
For example 30 frames per second multiplied by 10 seconds = 300 total frames. I need the displayed text to be spaced/formatted accordingly for a formal presentation.
Something similar to this, but with a black background and a regular white text.

Pretty much every NLE lets you import still images and assign lengths to them.
Most media players will display SRT subtitles as they play a video. Attached is a 45 second black MKV, along with corresponding m4a and srt files. Play the MKV with MPCHC and it will automatically include the audio and subtitles. Or you could load all three into an editor and save a video.

Note that SRT files are plain text. You can edit them with Notepad or any other text editor.Last edited by jagabo; 18th Nov 2018 at 22:53.

I was able to use DaVinci Resolve, to achieve the needed requirement. Far from ideal, but allowed me to import the images with all texts arranged as I wanted.
