  1. I have ripped a few movies but when I try to pull them into DVD2AVI I only get the first Vob file. If I select preview, the whole movie goes by in the display. When I try to save the project for real, it only uses the first Vob. I have tried reloading the program but get the same results. I am using version 1.76. Please help!!!!!

  2. wat u mean when u select the first vob out of your vobs DVD2AVI slect the rest of them and i think your worryed becuase dvd2avi makes such a small d2v file becuase it only a script to tell TMPGEnc where to locate the vobs at and give some settings

  8. [NOTE: Hmmm... It seems I type too slowly, this apparently has been answered to your satisfaction. But I'll respond anyway in case someone else has similar questions.]

When you select the first VOB file in DVD2AVI, it should automatically select the rest in that stream. Are you saying that you only want to encode the first VOB and nothing else? If that is the case, it's pretty simple to do - DVD2AVI shows a list of the VOB files that were autoselected after, just highlight the ones you don't want to use and REMOVE/DELETE them. If you do not remove any of the VOBs, then a PREVIEW will show the entire movie.

Do you want to choose a particular section of the movie to encode? You can select a RANGE by using the '[' and ']' buttons, this will work across VOBs.

When you Save Project there will not be seperate D2V and/or WAV files for each VOB. There will only be a relatively small 'pointer' that refers to the VOB files, so that TMPGEnc can use the D2V. The WAV file will likely be very large, but takes very little time to complete.

The whole processing time will likely only be a few minutes in all to create these files. Once the DVD2AVI window shows FINISH in the Time Remain box, you can close the program, unless there are some other movies you also need to process.

P.S. Doing this from memory at my Brother's place, hope I got it right.

  9. It's just that I have been trying for about 4 weeks to get this. I can only rip certain movies. I tried 2 Disney flicks, Shrek, and Hannibel, all end with aspi errors. I was able to rip Behind Enemy Lines, and Heist. (Maybe it is a Gene Hackman thing). The wife is wondering if I wasted the cash on this DVD outfit :^)

  10. I was able to rip Shrek without incident. You say you are getting ASPI errors, right? The errors are taking place when you try to use SmartRipper? Perhaps you should find out what your current ASPI drivers are... In another thread it is mentioned that "upgrading" to a certain ASPI driver, 4.07 or something like that, in Windows XP caused problems. I am using WinXP, but have no clue what ASPI driver is loaded. I'm just glad it works! 8) Check around here to see if there are any particular issues with SmartRipper and your Operating System, DVD-ROM, Processor, etc. Maybe that will help you track down a solution.

  11. yeh, my buddy has no problem either. I used force aspi to make sure my aspi layer was at 4.60. One of the threads said 4.70 was no good. I then used aspi check to check the version of the aspi layer, and all 4 files were 4.60. Oh well, if I can get 1 to work I will be on my way. Just going around the learning curve is the worst of it.
