Smilies in text

I have recieved a piece of script in a text but some of it contains smilies I have gone to advanced in the pm inbox and said disable smilies also went back to forum settings and said save. But the smilies are still in the text. What am I doing wrong.

Did you mean text in the forum ?

Enclose it in a code box, and the smileys will go away

I suppose also if I copy and paste text to say notepad smilies won't show

No I mean in a pm in my inbox not from forum

Disabling 'smilies' is only available on our forum when you are posting text, not when viewing existing text. However most all smilies are just text strings, such as :) . If text contains a string like '(text1234:)",
you would end up with a smilie. The text I entered here is with 'Disable smilies in text' checked.

Yes I realised it's just when you send a pm. But it's all sorted ok now thanks
