Hi,
I have a question about IsoPuzzle.
I have a scratch DVD.
I use IsoPuzzle but it's been going on for 2 days.
Now I have to leave home and I want to shut down the computer.
Because the recovery time is too long, I wonder if i can to close my computer, and then re-start software to continue from where it was?
Thank you,
Nike

Yes you can!
It's been awhile since I've used ISOPuzzle, but the program writes a file (in addition to the "recovered" ISO from the faulty/damaged DVD) which is updated automatically. This file indicates what sectors have been recovered and the progress made in recovering data from DVD's.
So when restarting the recovery process later on, make sure the currently recovered ISO file is contained in the same directory as the associated "progress" file. Then point to that currently recovered ISO to continue where you left off.
Another consideration is to maybe use different DVD drives to recover data as some drives are better than others at reading and recovering data from faulty/damaged DVD's. Please note that if using different DVD drives on another computer, then BOTH the currently recovered ISO file and its associated progress file MUST be copied to the other computer and the two files MUST kept together in the SAME directory if wanting to resume data recovery. -
2 days seems way too long for a single drive. Are you checking the log to see if sectors are still being recovered? IsoPuzzle has to be monitored because it will continue to run even if the disc can't be fully recovered and you don't want to damage your drive.
The best thing to do is to use multiple DVD drives of different brands. It is rare I can recover a scratched disc with only a single drive. But using 2 or 3 drives I usually have success or at least a recovery of greater than 95%. -
It's a movie, a single 5.4 Gb file on an 8 gb DVD.
I tried with another program, and lasting a few months. That program has explicitly written that it will continue exactly where it's left.
And with this program saved a large part of the film, but left some 10 minutes not seen well.
I wanted to try IsoPuzzle, maybe can save my movie better than the first one.
It was not clear to me whether he would continue from where he stopped.
There is no log file.
I can not find it where the software is located.
And also is not where the ISO file is.
If he's in another place, you can tell me.
Thank you for your answers and suggestions.Last edited by Nikedody; 31st Oct 2018 at 19:54.

Hei meeshu,
I found that file, only the information in it thinks it can be read only by software, because nothing is understood.
That's what it looks like in that file: "? ŕ˙ ŕ˙ ř˙ đ˙ ř˙ ř˙? ü˙ "
Anyway, if I know he's been made to go where he's left, it's enough for me.
Now all I have to do is to wait to finish.
Thank you very much for info. -
You might try having the disc resurfaced with a professional resurfacing machine at your local video or game store. Your local library may also have have one. Should be <$15 per disc. Drop the names DiscChek and JFJ Easy Pro (highly rated for repairs) and if they don't know what they are or pull out anything that can be held in one hand, move on. Don't bother with things like SkipDoctor or anything less than $150 (price point for JFJ Easy Pro) as they'll do more harm than good to your already damaged disc.
