I have been reading the threads and this is a little different situation. My friend has no internet ( only a little data on phone) . she has movies and tv shows on usb she gets from family. Her tv has usb slot but only does music and photos but she used to be able to watch them on her sons xbox 360. They haven't worked in almost 7 months. I read about the update on xbox 360 live but she has no internet. Is there a work around on the usb for her to watch or is there a really cheap device she can plug into her hdmi slot and play the usb. I think there is a usb slot in apple tv, but the new ones are way to expensive. any help is much appreciated and hopefully easy conversion for her

What do you mean by that? Is the Xbox dead? Or movies stopped working or what?

stopped being able to watch movies on the device.
Her brother was converting movies but I think he was just using the software that would convert avi or mp4 or mkv to xbox 360 so I DONT think he or I know how to change the video and audio etc to match the video playback the FAQ. One of the other threads say you have to download something from xbox live but she has no internet.

An Android TV Box with Kodi installed may be able to play more types of video and audio, but if your friend prefers simpler tech, a Micca Speck G2 may be enough.

Although they are capable of accessing the Internet, Android TV boxes don't require the Internet to play video files from USB when someone installs the official version of Kodi for Android downloaded from https://kodi.tv/. However, some Android TV boxes on the market come with pre-installed, unofficial versions of Kodi that have been customized by the manufacturer may require an Internet connection to update their software.
