    1080 video obviously shot with pro gear - what causes the artificating you see here - most prominently along the body striping on the blue Gremlin?

    Looks like Yadif deinterlacing, which does a particularly bad job on shallow diagonals. We would call that "stair-stepping."

    It sure looks like bad deinterlacing, but it's 24fps and it was therefore shot as progressive film. Maybe it was deinterlaced anyway, somewhere along the way.
