I did a search for the two terms PlayOn and Hulu in this forum but came up empty, so here goes.

I wish to switch from Youtube TV as my TV provider since Youtube TV has mandatory commercials in many of its DVR recordings (specifically it blocks the DVR recordings and substitutes VOD recordings as soon as VOD recordings are made available, and the VOD recordings usually have commercials).

However the other TV providers don't have the room for DVR recording provided by Youtube TV (except for PlayStation Vue, but Vue is more expensive than the other services). So I've been exploring other means of recording from my TV provider.

It appears PlayOn may be my solution.

And PlayOn claims that it now works with Hulu Live.

If I can get PlayOn to make recordings from Hulu Live, or from my DVR recordings on Hulu Live, then that would appear to be the solution.

However I'm in a time crunch. I don't have Hulu Live at the moment, and I already used up my free Hulu Live trial several months ago. The moment I turn on Hulu Live I will immediately be debited $40. Obviously the reasonable course of action is to turn it on on the first of next month and then, if everything works out O.K., cancel Youtube TV before my next monthly Youtube TV payment is due.

But here's the problem: my monthly payment to Youtube TV is due on the 2nd.

Which means I will have exactly

    ONE DAY

to turn on Hulu Live, buy PlayOn, install PlayOn, and experiment to see whether I can live with Hulu Live's somewhat more limited capabilities as compared to Youtube TV, experiment to see whether PlayOn will record everything from Hulu Live that I need it to record, and work out some system so that recordings are also made overnight (I only have laptops, two of them, and they need to be rebooted every 24 hours or so, as the Windows-savvy among you know; my recordings are made around the clock so do I get TWO PlayOn installations, and alternate downtime every other day?).

I seriously doubt I can get all of that done on October 1st.

So I was wondering if anyone here

    1) subscribes to Hulu Live,
    2) has purchased and used PlayOn,
    3) has used PlayOn to record from Hulu Live and
    4) has worked out some system to keep the recordings going on the overnight while still periodically rebooting your computers.

If the answer is yes, could you give me some pointers on how to quickly and easily set all of that up in the space of 24 hours?

Keep in mind, please, that I've never used PlayOn and have only the vaguest glimmering on how to set it up and how to make it work.

    THANKS!!!!
