Converting .MKV 4K 8 Channel Movie File Without Compromising Tracks.

Hello people so i have a-8 channel movie with the .MKV format and i want to make a fan made trailer with it on Sony Vegas, Now the problem i'm facing is that i only get 6 channels when i try to convert it to a format that SV is able to read while my goal here is to get the whole 8 channel package, Forgive me if this is a newbie question as my knowledge in movie codecs and formats generally is lacking spice.

You might be able to convert it to 8 mono wavs then import those .

Does Sony Vegas even support more than 5.1 audio channels? (can't find any data on their homepage that Sony Vegas supports 7.1 audio)
What audio formats does SV support with 8 channels?
What audio format are you converting to? Also what do you use for conversion?
What audio format is your 8-channel movie in?
