I have a number of GoPro video's that play fine when launched/viewed using Windows Media Player. When I load them into Corel VideoStudio the play fine until i make any sort of edit. After making an edit the video becomes distorted with many frames blurred. Even muting the sound causes the clip to become distorted. The files are the MP4 files created by GoPro and are 23.976 fps 24bit 1920x1080 16x9 format.
I am using VisualStudio 2018. I've been playing with the project properties to make sure that it matches the format and have yet to be successful. Same results each time.
Any help appreciated.

I think it uses a "proxy" mode for editing. A lower quality version is used so you get faster performance when editing. You can try disabling it in the options

Thank... I have tried turning proxy on/off without success. Also, I built the project and sent the output to another MP4 file and the output has the same distortion.

I've tried it, but I don't really use videostudio ; but you might need to restart it for the changes to take effect. In fact, I would just start a new test project with a different clip to see if it makes a difference. It might still be referencing the original proxy
What type of "edit" did you perform ?
Also test other formats. e.g a random video , maybe downloaded from youtube. Does the "many frames blurred" occur with other videos too ? Or just gopro ? -
I just opened another MP4 i created with my phone. Same result. That one was 29.901 fps and 1920x1080.
I found a .wmv file provided by Windows. It was 29.970 fps and 1280x720. Seems to work ok. I can edit like change speeds and frames and there is no distortion. -
When you say that the blurring happens "after making an edit." Does this mean that you simply cut out a section and then, on the timeline it looks blurry?
Or, does it look blurry after you render it?
The answer to this question is extremely important. If the blurriness happens after rendering, then you most likely have either a frame rate or resolution setting that isn't correct. You might also have an interlace setting that is wrong.
If you can upload a few seconds of the blurry video, it might help determine the nature of the problem.
