I took a look in one of the PDF VCR service manuals on my PC
and it either uses PG-641, some kind of molykote grease
or something called AC-DM multitemp grease

Nope - you should always use service manual to verify grease - there are different types of grease especially in precision mechanic like VCR's - different grease is used for plastic to plastic, different metal to metal and different for metal to plastic... sometimes "universal" grease can be used - lithium grease are most common but usually in general types of mechanics (cars but even cars use different types of grease). Those universal precision grease usually use aluminium not lithium but frequently they are non oil based so they chemistry can be different. If you can't use service manual with lubricants list then you should search for lubricants explicitly neutral to application area - like neutral to plastic etc

Yeah, you don't want a lube that breaks down plastic over time, used on plastic areas.
