  1. Hey all. This probably isn't the right section for this, and I'm half convinced this may not even be the right forum in general. But, gotta start somewhere.
I have a Hitachi VM3100a camcorder, vhs. What I'd like to do is use this on my PC for budget streaming, but I need the AV cable. I have googled til my fingers were raw lol, and for the life of me I can't find them anywhere.
I'm hoping someone here knows where I can get them, or alternatively know the proper web forum to go asking.
    Thanks for your time

This looks like what you need. I assume this jack is the only A/V out. If so, that's a radio frequency modulator to hook to a TV antenna input.
May not work on newer TVs as it's analog and newer TVs are digital. There are several of those camcorders on Ebay and you could buy a
'parts' unit that would be non-working just to get a modulator. Some photos of the camera and modulator.

    And welcome to our forums.

Using the modulator will seriously degrade image quality. Two of those pins in the A/V OUT jack carry composite (CVBS) video. I would find a matching plug (or cut the plug off the Hitachi modulator) and make a Frankencable with an RCA (phono) plug on the other end, once you figure out which conductors have the video signal.

Looks like that is a mini-DIN 7 pin plug (similar to PS2, or S-Video styles). You could probably solder together a stock plug with adapter RCA cables (composite, L/R/mono audio) if you knew the pin-out mappings (should be in some manual).

If the modulator doesn't work for the OP, they could probably pull the cover off and see which leads are for composite video and audio out and
make up a new cable or use the cable to the modulator. The modulator appears to be bi-directional and likely has an 'in and out' switch.
I believe it can record from a VCR RF output.

The manual seems to be available, but they want about $5 US for it. Some similar models seem to have RCA output/inputs for AV under a cover,
though I didn't see any in the Ebay photos of the VM3100A. And I was unable also to find a AV to RCA cable to fit that socket.

They apparently made a lot of models in the VM series.

I agree the modulator output would be poor quality.
