  1. Is there anyway to remove the audio hiss from a mpeg movie? I read on a different thread that someone ripped the audio from a movie and ran it through CoolEdit.

How do I rip the audio from a mpeg, clean in, and put it back?

  2. -demultiplex the mpg under TmpGenc...
-Open the mp2 file under Soundforge5 with the Waves restauration plug-in...
-go to X-Noise and take a silent part where there is only the hissing... save the settings...
-select all the file, add the setting, test the file and if ok, save it...
-open Normalize and run it over the new file....
    -export as .wav
-under TmpGenc, open the new .wav file and re-encode it as .mp2/1150 hz, 224bps
-once done, multiplex the new sound file with the previous .m1v (video) and Bingo!!

    Bonne chance!

  4. -reinstall waves restauration.... (be sure to have directX8.1 installed)
-then open the mp2 file in SForge...
-once done, select a part (the longer the better)of the file where you have only the hissing ( a kind of silent part if I can say..). this selection will be darken...
-then click DirectX/ Waves X-noise.... once in the new window, click Learn so this part will be scan and a setting will be made. Stop after few seconds... Click Preview to check if its ok with you.... if so, click SAVE AS and save the setting..
-return to the whole file and click EDIT/select all. The whole file will be now darken... re-enter X-Noise and choose your previous setting. click preview to check if its ok, you can adjust threshold or reduction once there.... when everything seems ok, Click OK and the new file will be create....
-Save as .wav 44100 16 bits stereo....
    -etc....

Trying and reading is the best way of achieving a good tweak....

    Bonne chance!

  5. Im with you on highlighting the hissing part but when I open X-Noise under the DirectX(1) tab it gives me that error of missing dll. I tried reinstalling SF5 and Waves but it still wont work (cleaned out the registry and everything) ! :-?

I have DirectX 8.1 ... it comes default with Windows XP Pro.

Do I have to Authorize it or something? I shouldnt have to for the demo, still have 14 days left.

**** Nevermind, I got it working. Thanks

  6. When I hit preview, am I nost supposed to hear the hiss?

  7. not supposed but depends on your settings.. you can always add reduction.. compensate by taking out some threshold though....
    Testing is the best way....

  8. I got rid of the his but the voices are fucked up now lol

guess all have to find a medium

  9. voices are fucked up because you added or took off too much threshold.... this should be near -0.5% or near so..... reduction noise is also very touchy...
Try to do the best under X-noise then save the file and open
FX-EQ.. there, adjust the treble etc...... after all that, normalize the sound and your file will be done...
