  2. Now you don't even have to do that. There are a couple of options avaialble. You can framserve to TMPGenc from Premiere (see the 'how to' section on this--it works great). You can also save your finished production by going to 'file' then to 'export timeline' then to 'save to tape' (after making sure you've rendered all your effects and transistions by rendering the timeline, of course). Then, after you've saved your production on on your camera tape, you can re-download the production back on your harddrive in MPEG2 with one of the software encoders currently available (I use Mediostream's CamPeg RT for this---99 bucks for download at www.mediostream.com. This is a great program. Very reliable, and it changes your .avi file from your camera to dvd-compliant MPEG2 in realtime.)

Ok, thanx for the tip. But when you "Save to tape" you need a DV in on cam or? Do premiere "trigger" record on cam auto or do i need to press record button. I going to buy a "box" that makes your DV out to DV in. A small box with a record button. Works perfect cost about 100usd.

  4. Yes, you still need to hook up a camera to record back thru the firewire cable. You have to push the record button on the camera to accomplish this. But I find that is still easier than ecncoding the whole thing thru frameserving and TMPGenc. Then I recapture my finished production with CamPeg RT directly to MPEG2.
