Georestrictions on France.tv: How to PROXY FROM MY BROWSER?

Hope this post finds you well!

I need to download videos from France.TV..

I'm using SetupVPN (see screenshot below; Here's the GOOGLE APP link) which does allow me to WATCH videos from the site: https://www.france.tv/france-2/parents-mode-d-emploi/542731-emission-du-lundi-2-juillet-2018.html

HOWEVER, when I want to DOWNLOAD videos by using youtube-dl in command line, I simply cannot bypass the geo-restrictions:

So I tried the proxies on this page: http://spys.ru/free-proxy-list/FR

This was a sample of my attempts:

I actually tried with ALL the proxies on that page, and even the socks5 proxies (e. g. "youtube-dl --proxy socks5://87.117.120:10080 https://www.france.tv/france-2/parents-mode-d-emploi/542731-emission-du-lundi-2-juillet-2018.html") but with no luck.

Could anyone tell me, since the SetupVPN works for me in my browser, is it possible at all to PROXY FROM the the SetupVPN app extension in MY BROWSER when typing YOUTUBE-DL command lines? If yes, how? (I know SetupVPN has a separate app to serve as a system-wide proxy but I've got some errors with a newly installed package and meanwhile I can't seem to fix it, so this is not an option for me now) What command should I use? I wonder if it should be something like "youtube-dl socks5://127.0.0.1:1080" ? But that doesn't work for me either! Please HELP!

Or could anyone tell me how to figure out the French proxy server IP/port of the SetupVPN extension I'm currently using, so I can use that in my youtube-dl proxy parameter? Thank you!

Hi Hech! Thank you for the reply! You know I'm actually talking about bypassing geo-restrictions TO DOWNLOAD the video from France.TV, and NOT TO WATCH the video.. If you read through my post above you'll see I was talking about using youtube-dl.. BUT I don't know what proxy parameter to type in my command line if I want to proxy by using SetupVPN from my browser (it looks like "youtube-dl socks5://127.0.0.1:1080" doesn't work)!

In the sample above, the proxy 91.121.108.164:3128 is a French proxy I pick up from http://spys.one/free-proxy-list/FR in order to bypass the geo-restriction. But it does not work, & actually none of the proxies listed on this page works for me!

I was able to download the video with youtube-dl and PureVPN set to France (Paris). But I'm not using a browser plugin VPN (that only routes the browser's traffic through the VPN) but rather a VPN that routes all IP traffic through the VPN.

youtube-dl shows the follow streams are available:

Thank you jagabo, yes I've always had to use a system-wide VPN and switch to a French proxy to download the videos (the only concern is that this VPN is only available in my office and, you know it's not very good for me to download such stuff for personal use in my workplace, and that's why I'm looking for an alternative solution); however, it doesn't seem to be stable because it occurs from time to time that even I've turned on my system-wide Cisco-AnyConnect VPN & selected a French proxy, the download ends up with an error message as follows:

Not sure why this keeps happening.. If you check the video links in my first screenshot: https://www.6play.fr/legends-p_5814/saison-1-episode-1-c_11566636, you'll see the video belongs to this TV series: https://www.6play.fr/legends-p_5814 which should not have been deleted because it has just been newly released! So why am I getting "No video formats found"? I've also tried the proxy you've provided, as well as the proxies on this page http://spys.one/free-proxy-list/FR/, but none of them works for me today (see below), while I did find a working proxy on that same page the other day!

I think this warning has something to do with why my second download isn't sucessful. However, as you can see the second video can be replayed normally online when you use a French proxy.. So I'm really wondering what has caused this highlighted error above..

It downloads just fine with a system VPN (not browser VPN) , together with Tubedigger set to I.E. browser. Very simple to do.

Use Windscribe VPN, Canadian company, and the workers do speak french too...
Windscribe offers 10GB of data per month for FREE (unlimited devices), and you can "mine for crypto coins", on their webpage for more download credit.
Both, their Windows app and web-browser extension are useful for your needs..
they got servers in france..
also, they have socks5 proxy for users, but i am afraid it is only for paid pro users..
