You converted the video at least once before loading it into cinelerra ... most editors in Linux don't have a stream copy option. Is there some reason you couldn't just load the video into cinelerra? ANd if so, why use an editor that requires so many steps before loading? Either of the preceding apps you used could have buggered up the sync.

That's why I asked which version he is using. Cin-CV and HV are QT based, will not accept most file formats and transcoding is usually the only option, whereas Cin-GG 5.1 is ffmpeg based and will accept almost anything ffmpeg can read, so raw camera files straight on the timeline is an option.

  5. Phones usually record VFR (variable frame rate). This is a frequent source of problems if you're trying to edit. Usually you need to convert to CFR first, although some editors now have got slightly better at handling VFR footage (converting to CFR first is still the most reliable, by far). Not sure how good cinelerra or pitivi or winff is at handling it. ffmpeg itself will usually copy the timecodes over if converting - if the output format supports VFR timecodes
