I film my whitewater kayaking trips on a Gopro helmet cam , put the clips together using Windows movie maker which saves the file format as an Mp4.
I want to burn my movies to a DVD so I can watch on my Tv but my Tv will not play Mp4.
I downloaded a free Mp4 to Vob conversion software but the degredation of the HD quality is so poor from the conversion and is dissapointing to watch.
Is there a conversion software that keeps the quality of the original mp4?
Thanks ahead!!

DVD is limited to SD resolution. 720x480, 29.97 fps. Of course, some programs may do better than others when downscaling and encoding. But we would have to see a sample to tell if you have a problem beyond the HD to SD loss of resolution.

Not a chance. A helmet cam video in a kayak on whitewater? And you're going to use what Movie Maker gave you as your source for the DVD? Worse yet.
Is there no way to take the original footage and go straight to DVD? Or save edited footage as lossless and then go to DVD? Do you have any stabilization software to make it easier to compress?
Anyway, try AvsToDVD. But it'll still look like crap. And, as jagabo suggested, please provide a short sample.
