  1. Maybe it's old news, but I only discovered New Moon yesterday.

I've only used it for a couple of hours, but so far so good.

    Full disclosure:
Currently, it does not include any audio or video codecs. HTML5 audio and video will therefore not work. This might change in the future.

It can be installed alongside both Pale Moon and Firefox.

Thanks for posting! Works fine on old AMD Athlon with only SSE. A Pale Moon update of yesterday (version 27.9.3) is already available as New Moon

  3. Wow. Two days of use before having to update. At least it's not hard. I found a couple of add-on issues (I started off with the add-ons I'd been using with the last XP compatible Pale Moon.

Download Status Bar doesn't work with the current New Moon, but there's a forked version that does. https://addons.palemoon.org/addon/downloadstatusbar-pm/

The current TabMixPlus has a minor issue. It might be an incompatibility with another plugin, but tabs don't resize properly for me. When you have a bunch of tabs open and then close some, the remaining tabs don't increase in size again. I downgraded to the older TabMixPlus 0.4.2.0 I was using with Pale Moon again, and that problem went away.

uBlock Origin stopped working so I downloaded the uBlock Origin updater, installed it, and it updated uBlock Origin for me.

Other than having to fix those things, I just made a copy of my old Pale Moon profile folder, told New Moon to use it, and everything worked as before.

I don't even let XP online anymore. Not wise.
For me, Win7 is minimum, or Linux.

Still, it's nice to see when devs support legacy OS -- especially for video.

  6. Nah - XP is not more in danger than Windows 10 (i even bet on this that Windows 10 more insecure despite Microsoft marketing) - issue with Palemoon is that it doesn't support extensions like uMatrix (i.e. WebExtension required) - i use Palemoon and with all fuzz related to NoScript seem this is time to move on something different - perhaps https://www.srware.net/en/software_srware_iron.php

I don't know if this of interest as a noscript replacement but uMatrix installs and seems to work on the current "new moon" version. I'm far from an expert on this subject but perhaps someone else can see if it is fully functional?

    https://github.com/gorhill/uMatrix/releases/tag/1.1.4

    I installed ... uMatrix.firefox.xpi

Look for the green icon on the top right of the new moon window.

    Thx Chris,
yep this is for noscript clash on Palemoon also something more strict than ublock - and yes i was aware that old version works fine but hoped that perhaps there is better alternative supporting some browsing aspect better than PM but without common problems to many corpo browsers.
I use uMatrix in my portable "Tor Browser".
