I don't see any "effect" at that time ; is this the right link ? or right time ?

I see some paint at the bottom of a swimming pool, and shallow depth of field, but no "comic" effect

  6. It is surely overcompression, check wiki

  7. strong spatial filtering end after edge sharpening - i would try some NLM + warpsharp or overload codec (with strong deblock settings)

  8. This is only partial explanation as important is sharpening before compression (at least it was clearly visible on my browser that face oval edge was sharp) - probably video was sharpened (artificially and too much) before encoding and as result it even emphasised visible overcompression effect.

  9. But there is some "oil painting" too - they all wear makeup, eyeliner etc...

  10. Yeah these KPOP male stars are metrosexuals, so they migh use more makeup than your neighbor's daughter ")

I'm using Virtualdub 1.10.4 on my 32 bit system, and copied the 'MSU_Cartoonizer.vdf' file from the 'MSU v.3 zip' folder into the 'plugins32' folder in my Virtualdub directory.

(I do have to tick the 'force single frame buffer' box in the 'filter options' or the program crashes.....)

After doing that it all seems to work OK ......

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-local_means

I haven't seen one for VirtualDub. Try a 2d noise reduction filter with a large radius, moderate threshold. Like Jim Casaburi's 2d Cleaner.

Re. MSU Cartoonizer: make sure you have the rigth "bitness". 32 bit filter for 32 bit Virtualdub, or 64 bit filter for 64 bit VirtualDub.

When i use 2d Cleaner, do i have to also sharpen the video manually if i want to?

  16. 2d Cleaner only reduces noise. If you want sharper edges you have to do that with another filter.
