Hello,
I own a Sony HDR-PJ30 camcorder that can take an external microphone ("Plug-in power").
To record interviews without ambiant noise, I bought a Boya BY-M1 microphone, which offers two modes: Active and passive.
The specs say: "For Smartphone: Switch off the microphone; For DSLR, Camcorders, Audio recorders, PC etc.: Switch on the microphone."
I was wondering why this is, and whether this is always true when connecting a dynamic microphone into a camcorder. What happens if I leave the microphone ON while plugging it into a smartphone ?
Thank you.

Asked & answered here before: plugin power vs. battery power. You should NOT have both on, as it could overload circuits.

So that camcorder works like a smartphone, and I should leave the microphone to OFF.
Thanks.
