Dear Forum,
I'm new to Aegisub, but need to add to types of titles on a documentary - one normal subtitle and some captions (names, titles of people) on different places of the screen.
My problem is that after importing the srt-file to Aegisub the font looks very, very tiny on the film, although text is Arial 20 (default, but normally should be 24 or?). Please see screenshot. The film is 1920x1080.
How do I know what size to use in order to make it fit with the norm?
I hope you can help.

You have probably open then video in Aegisub in which case the PlayResX/PlayResY gets defined and the subtitle scaled accordingly. Increase the font size.
Code:[Script Info] ; Script generated by Aegisub 3.2.2 ; http://www.aegisub.org/ Title: Default Aegisub file ScriptType: v4.00+ WrapStyle: 0 ScaledBorderAndShadow: yes YCbCr Matrix: None PlayResX: 1920 PlayResY: 1080

Thanks for help, but the script resolution and video resolution is the same: 1920 x 1080.
If using Handbrake it finds the size automatically, but I guess that's what the script should do here, too.
So what is it I need to change? If manually increasing the font size, what is standard size for Arial with this resolution?
I look forward to hearing from you. -

As I see it you have two options. You could could use PlayResX/PlayResY of zero in which case a font size of 20 would look like:

Or you could specify PlayResX/PlayResY in which case a font size of 20 would look like:

There is no right or wrong here - it's for you to decide what you want. -
A font Size 20 looks small on Aegisub, I have to edit the font of the style to make it 55 or 60 to make it readable on 720p..
