How to make music CD, from WAV files, add lots of tags?

Dear Experts,

I have a number of WAV files. No tags.

I'd like to make some music (not data) CDs out of them.

In the process, I'd like to add lots of tags.

Audacity allows me to add as many tags as I want and export the file.


But when I try to then use Windows Media Player 12 to make the CD,
the tags are not there, or not how I edited them in Audacity.


Also, all versions of Itunes (that I've tried) only seem to use their standard tags.


How can I create a music CD that will add all the tags I want?

Is there a software I should know about?

Audio CDs normally do not support ANY tags.
The exception is if you create an Audio CD with an app that supports "CD Text", and then it only supports a few standard tags (title, artist, album name, a few more).
EAC, CDRWin, ImgBurn, others are among the apps that support CDText.

Also, I don't offhand know of any that read the tags directly from the files into the CD text, so you may very likely have to manually re-input them into the CDText fields.
And they are not retained in the audio, as what is put on disc is not WAV files, per se, but rather raw LPCM streams (in big-endian format, whereas WAV is little-endian).

As pointed by Cornucopia CD Audio is quite limited on supported audio associated information (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CD-Text#Format ) - if you have unusual requirements you may consider CD+G ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CD%2BG ) as alternative (quite limited - you need to have video capable CD player ). Anyway worth to try for example with help of: http://cdgmagic.sourceforge.net/

The music I have was originally:
played over FM radio
recorded by me onto cassette tape (in the 1980s!)
a few years ago, streamed into WAV files and music CDs
(I'd tried Exact Audio Copy in the process)

The music CDs are for a friend, who is quite
computer illiterate.

see the artist, song name, etc.

What would be the best way to create a music CD
with at least the same info that I see displayed

I always turned to Prassi Ones for CDText. Although ImgBurn can do it too and I LOVE Imgburn....Prassi Ones for CDText for me.
Not sure where to get it now though.

Assuming what you were playing in your car was an audio cd, very likely your car player supported CD Text. Cars were some of the earliest adopters to the text addon of the AudioCD spec.
In addition to above-mentioned apps, Nero can still be a decent tool to help with generating the info.
And any text editor can help add the tag info to a cue file (the metafile that accompanies a bin file), you just need to format it properly. Of course, the old "cdrcue" app did a great job at keeping the proper structure.

Regardless, it is always best practice these days to include cdtext with EVERY audiocd burn. IMO, no exceptions.
