No video should have an .exe extension. Running that leaves you open to all sorts of 'nasties'

Stay well away from video files that end in .exe Check the title of the movie and look elsewhere, where you can buy the Blu Ray or DVD or legit download like iTunes etc.

A video-in-exe is a cute but clumsy attempt at a solution to a perceived, but not real, problem.

Those security, scientific, or other specialty video providers who are trying to legitimately use them, are really using them to limit usability to their own (controlled access?) players. For some reason, they seem to forget that one can decompile an exe, one can extract resources, one can even reverse-engineer an encapsulated codec.
And most of all, they ignore the universal axiom: if it can be played & displayed, it can be copied (and re-encoded).
Screen recording, computer-to-computer recording, HDMI splitting & decrypted copying/capture.
If screen recording won't work due to obfuscated overlay structure, it cannot prevent one or both of the other 2 options.
