  1. I can capture to the preset formats, but if I try to capture to an AVI format set up in custom, there is nothing saved. When I click record it says recording to g:\noname although it does'nt say anything about frame drops (ie <1%frame drops) like with the preset formats. And when I look on the G drive there is no file there.

  2. See if you can just modify an existing preset (change the resolution or whatever) and save that as a custom, then see if it will let you capture.
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."

  3. I have to set custom avi presets in 7.1 and load 7.6 on top, and they carry over. You can also regedit your customs in 7.1.

  4. If i select custom it does not capture whether they are existing formats or not (even unmodified ones), the only ones it will capture to are the standard formats like DVD, Good and VCD. (The ati VCR formats)

  5. check your wdm drivers, if they are 5118's, you should try the newer 5120's

Wow, your 'G:' drive? Must be nice. I'd make sure your capture settings are going to a real (valid) drive and directory...and not out to your CD drive or something.

I had the same thing happen. Started using the browse function instead of fat-fingering the directory names to save the capture too. Also happened when the name of the show was invalid for a file name to save the capture to. Now I just use 'Channel Number' nice a safely.
    Have a good one,

  7. I have the latest capture drivers from ATI and my G drive is a valid 120GB hard drive, if i use the default filename of noname it still does not capture. I can capture with IUVCR no problem so im not that bothered. Just dont understand why, when it says recording there is no file there.
