  1. Hi there,

I have several downloaded Divx files which are excellent quality movies. When I try to convert to either MPEG 1 or 2 the finished article isn't as good as the original. I have followed the instructions on here, even converting at highest quality in TMPENG but still no good. The finished file plays but its almost like theres a brief pause as the start of each frame, as if its struggling, probably not the best way to describe but hopefully somone can help ?!?!?!?!?

    Thanks,

    Angel

  2. Hi Angel,

Well, i'll begin with this, no matter what your source is, you will never get the same quality when you encode it.

That out of the way, will get down to business, AVI/DivX is a highly encoded source, meaning an encoder has a hard time figuring out how to compress it proparly while maintaining good quality.

DivX may look great sometimes, but that's because the human eye cannot catch alot of defects, while the encoder has to work with the data itself that the DivX delivers, and there isn't enough for it to work with.

Now regarding your problem, it sounds more like you simply used an incorrect settings on your encode which does not match your source file, and that causes the brief pauses every now and then.
