- I have an original .VOB file from DVD (resolution 720x576). I use VOB compression to H.264 (x264) use Avidemux, but after compression I open the video and frame smaller than the original is VOB. Although at option, I only select "Video Output (x264)", MKV Container and the rest is Copy.
Why the resolution as the original? Who can help me?

I though I already responded seems to have disappeared.. anyway,
you'll notice 720x576 is neither 4:3 nor 16x9, the valid resolutions for DVD, it's because
it is resized during playback to be one of those two resolutions
So when you convert it to MKV you can either make it so that it stretches it during playback (similar to DVD)
OR actually resize it to a 1:1 pixel aspect ratio
For the first option, at the bottom left under output format/mkv muxer hit configure
and select display width of 768 (768/576 = 4:3)
